History:
The Terre Haute plant initiated production in 1959, originally operating as a fully integrated aluminum sheet and extrusion plant. In 1961, extrusion operations were closed and shortly replaced in 1963 with aluminum foil products. The plant was acquired by Novelis in 1985. Production capabilities were then concentrated on foil and fin stock applications. Significant investments were made in the 1980s, including the installation of fully automated material handling equipment, two new large rolling mills, and finishing and annealing equipment. Today, Terre Haute has achieved status as a world class foil producing facility.
Market Position:
Terre Haute, Light Gauge Products’ largest manufacturing plant, produces a broad variety of consumer and industrial products, including foil stock for aluminum foil containers, household foil, industrial fin stock for use in heat exchangers and converter foil for flexible packaging. |
