Location:
1800 Speedway Fairmont, WV 26554 USA
History:
Fairmont construction was initiated in 1919, with plans to operate as a brass mill. However, with the strong demand for aluminum in WWI, the plant was converted and renamed Fairmont Aluminum in 1926. At that time it was a fully integrated facility with casting and hot and cold rolling equipment. The facility had several owners before Novelis purchased it from Cerro Aluminum in December, 1964. Fairmont is one of Novelis' oldest fabricating plants, being one of the original plants that make up Novelis' rolling operations in the United States. Since 1988, Fairmont has focused its efforts exclusively on fin stock and foil rolling.
Market Position:
The Fairmont plant is the leading supplier of fin stock in North America for both automotive and HVAC markets, and semi-rigid container stock markets. Fin stock is used for heat exchangers in components such as automobile radiators and condensers as well as in home and commercial cooling systems.
Notes of Interest:
The plant's system is registered to ISO-9002 from the International Organization of Standardization and the TS 16949 sanctioned by the major North American automotive producers. |
